Language
and Literacy Activities Rhyming Rhyming Basket: Objects are placed in a basket (one object
for each child present), and the basket is passed around the circle. As each child gets the basket, say
a word (What rhymes with fun) and they pull out the object that rhymes (fun). In basket
is a sun, fish, bat, car and cow. You can use any objects that might go with your theme study unit.
Rhyming Dice Children take turns rolling the die. When
the die stops rolling, the child will look at the picture on top, and use a second dice with matching rhyming words to find
a word that rhymes with the one that they rolled. To make
a dice, cover a small square box with bulletin board paper. Use clip art and glue pictures to the sides
of the box.

Word Songs This rhyme helps children act out rhyming in a fun way. Stand up in your group area. Do the body rhyme. The children will want to do this over and over.
