Mail Carrier
Circle/Group Time *Mail Delivery In advance have your parents mail their child a letter to the school. Once
they are all there have someone dress up like a mail carrier and deliver the mail.
Small Group/Child Choice *Make
Mail Bags Get a supply of brown grocery bags. In advance cut the bags down to size, about half way
down. Have children staple a handle to the top of the bag. Let children decorate
their bag with stamps, markers, stickers and old stamps.
*Mail Sorting Make a supply of colored post card. Add address
on each card (each color has its own address to match the same color house). Make color houses out of small
boxes. Have the children put a supply of the colored post cards in their mail bag and have them deliver
the mail in their bag.
I made five different house with five different post cards to match.
*Paint A Box Have children paint a box blue. Once dry turn it into a US
Mail Box. Place in the writing area for children to deposit mail in.
*Write a Letter Have children draw a picture or write a letter to their family.
Dictate what they want to say.
*Weighing Mail Get out balance scales and unifix cubes. In the
middle of the table have a supply of junk mail that the children can weigh. Have children place mail on
one side of the balance scale and unifix cubes on the other until it balances.
Setting Up the Environment

Add mail carrier outfight, balance scales, houses to deliver mail to, envelops, stamps, mail box, mail carrier bags,
