turkeypumpkin.gif

Circle/Group Time

*Sing the Song

Turkey Talk

Gobble, gobble, gobble’s

How I talk, talk, talk!

Waddle, waddle, waddle’s

How I walk, walk, walk!

With feathers on my wings

And my tail spread out

I gobble, gobble, waddle

Waddle all about

*Sing the song

Five Little Turkeys (song to the tune Five Little Ducks)

written by Kids World Exploration

Five little turkeys went out to play

Over the fence and far away

Mother Turkey called gobble, gobble, gobble

And only four little turkeys

Came waddling back

Four little turkeys went out to play

Over the fence and far away

Mother Turkey called gobble, gobble, gobble

And only three little turkeys

Came waddling back

Three little turkeys went out to play

Over the fence and far away

Mother Turkey called gobble, gobble, gobble

And only two little turkeys

Came waddling back

Two little turkeys went out to play

Over the fence and far away

Mother Turkey called gobble, gobble, gobble

And only one little turkeys

Came waddling back

One little turkeys went out to play

Over the fence and far away

Mother Turkey called gobble, gobble, gobble

And no little turkeys

Came waddling back

Lonely mother turkey

Went out one day

Over the fence and far away

The lonely mother turkey said

Gobble, gobble, gobble

And all the five little turkeys came waddling back.

Small Group/Child Choice

Paper Bag Turkey You will need a supply of large and medium brown paper bags, newspaper, rubber bands, construction paper, glue, tape, string and sticks.  Stuff the bags with news paper.  Tightly gather the opening of the smaller bag and secure it with a rubber band.  Place the secured end of the bag in the opening of the larger bag.  Tightly gather the opening and secure it with string.  Let the children paint the bags.  After paint has dried let the children glue eyes, beaks, feet and feathers onto their turkey.  The children can use (buttons, feather, construction paper, felt, self sticking craft foam, and yarn) to decorate their turkey.

Feather Painting Get a supply of different size feather.  Set out trays of paint and paper and let the children paint with feathers.

Tie Dye Turkeys Have children color onto coffee filters with washable color markers.  After they have colored the filter have the children spray it with water.  The children will be able to observe that the colors will run.  Have the children place their coffee filter between two paper towels and blot out the extra water.  After the filters have dried let the children turn their colorful filters into fabulous turkeys.  Let the children cut out body and head shapes for their turkey.  Next let them draw a face onto their turkey and glue it onto the coffee filter.  Now you have a flock of classroom turkeys.
